British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for a Business Controls Analyst in Bucharest until August 30th 2025

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and implement BAT’s SOx programme, including planning, testing, and documentation, in alignment with BCT methodology and standard processes (SEC, PCAOB, Big Four).
  • Support the preparation of concise, relevant reporting of status, results and key findings for BAT Management and Governance forums inc. Business unit risk committees, Regional Finance Leadership Teams, , Regional and Plc Audit Committees.
  • Support the on-going communication with BAT’s external auditors including walkthroughs/testing, audit requests, and deficiency evaluation.
  • Coordinate internal controls monitoring across ICFR and other risk areas, including self-assessments, year-end sign-offs, and incident reporting, while supporting control issue resolution.
  • Conduct incident reviews, perform root cause analyses, and coordinate assurance efforts with compliance, cyber, security, and internal audit teams.
  • Support updates to BAT’s internal control framework, assurance model, and provide expertise on control design for process improvements, risk ranking, and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver controls training, templates, and guidance, embedding standardized documentation and procedures across the business.
  • Work with BAT management to ensure controls are embedded.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Degree educated with relevant professional qualification (as a minimum in progress) especially but not required: ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA and 2+ years PQE.
  • Experience of internal controls in a SOx environment is highly desirable – either via professional services (external audit, advisory) or working with the controls team at an SEC registrant.
  • Experience engaging with external auditors is desirable.
  • Knowledge of US and UK internal control requirements for a global Group, including SEC SOx requirements and best practices.
  • Knowledge of transactional finance processes, accounting standards and financial reporting requirements (IFRS) relevant to BAT.
  • Experience in reviewing core business and finance processes and assessing the adequacy of controls, including design and operating effectiveness.
  • Experience of working on projects and new initiatives.
