Role Description:
Workspace News team is on a mission to deliver the best News capabilities and experiences to LSEG Workspace users enabling our customers to access a vast universe of real-time and on-demand News content from the outstanding and industry top News organisations!
We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated Lead Software Engineer with focus on Node.js development to join LSEG Workspace team in Bucharest helping us share the future of News. You will work in an Agile team alongside front-end, back-end and quality engineers developing capabilities for the most used and business critical applications like News Monitor and Top News in our flagship customer workflows product, LSEG Workspace.
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, possess a deep understanding of cloud platforms, and have a proven track record of delivering scalable and efficient software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Development:
Design, develop, and maintain back-end systems using Node.js, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
Conduct code reviews and establish standard processes for software development
System Design and Architecture:
Architect, deploy, and run applications on AWS and Azure platforms
Optimise cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and performance
Lead architectural decisions for back-end systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements
Collaborate with Product, Design, DevOps engineers to build end-to-end solutions
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues
Implement robust monitoring and alerting solutions
Project Management:
Participate in sprint planning, task estimation, and roadmap development
Ensure timely delivery of projects, meeting both technical and business objectives
Candidate Profile / Key Skills:
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of professional experience in software development
Proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
Strong expertise in cloud platforms, including AWS (e.g. ECS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) and Azure (e.g. App Services, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB)
Experience with containerisation tools like Docker
In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design and micro-services architecture
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with front-end frameworks e.g. Angular
Knowledge of security and compliance standards
Exposure to serverless architecture and event-driven systems
