Nokia Overview

Who are we?

At Nokia, we create technology that helps the world act together.

As a B2B technology innovation leader, we are pioneering the future where networks meet cloud to realize the full potential of digital in every industry.

Through networks that sense, think and act, we work with our customers and partners to create the digital services and applications of the future.

Most people who hear the word "Nokia" associate it with their first mobile phone. We do take pride in being once a legendary phone maker but these days we play a bigger role in the world.

Joining Nokia means deciding to work for one of the world’s largest technology providers which builds telecom networks - essential for our daily life - to enable phones and other internet-enabled devices to communicate with one another. Wherever you are now, connecting to the Internet to read these words, it is highly likely that the bits to make this possible go through Nokia equipment and software!

We are also future-forward looking and expect 5G and 6G mobile networks to move us away from the smartphone and give us access to other devices to experience the metaverse: from socializing in Virtual Reality worlds as 3D holograms to exploring parts of our planet without physically going there. There is a world of possibilities, and we will be part of it.

What about Nokia in Romania?

We are on the market for a while now. The journey started more than 30 years ago by the French Group Alcatel, which later merged with Lucent Technologies and in 2016 we were acquired by Nokia. In other words, we have a strong legacy of technology leadership in telecommunications, Nokia being the main supplier for tech giants, communication service providers (CSPs), governments and clients in different industries (from renewable energy to public transport etc.)

With more than 2000 employees in Timisoara and Bucharest, we are best known to host the largest Research and Development Center in the field of telecommunications in Romania. We are also one of the top choices for those who wish to pursue a career in telecom or IT, especially in Timisoara.

Why work with us?

How can we contribute to your carreer aspirations?

We are mainly a tech company and more than 80% of our roles are in engineering, not all of them though requiring a degree in Telecommunications. Our job opportunities are plenty and for people at different career levels in their life: from students searching for an internship to more senior experienced professionals.

The easiest way to find the available jobs we have is by checking our Nokia Careers - Jobs site and apply even if you don’t meet 100% of the selection criteria. The most important is to determine if your skills and potential will enable you to do the job that is advertised there.

How is the recruitment process?

It starts with your application on our career site Nokia Careers - Jobs. You can also apply via LinkedIn or any other job boards where we post our job opportunities. We highly recommend you to submit a CV in English as this is the official language of the company and you might apply for jobs where the hiring managers are not Romanians.

Following your application, one of Nokia’s recruiters together with the hiring manager are going to review yor CV. If eligible based on the selection criteria stated in the job advert, you can expect about 2 rounds of interviews: a technical test/interview with the hiring manager followed by a behavioural-based interview with a recruiter. The selection process is usually the same, regardless of the position type (internship, fresh graduate, experienced professional) and happens most of the time virtually.

If successful, you will be invited to take part in a comprehensive offer presentation, making sure to cover all relevant information and answer your questions. Deciding on your future employer is important and we would like you to have the best possible experience!
