Role description
The role of Compliance Associate - Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management will focus (among other responsibilities) on working with internal and external stakeholders for risk management activities, and on the design, implementation, monitoring and testing of business and IT controls to ensure internal compliance with different regulations applicable to our business.
A successful Compliance Associate requires the ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Furthermore, you should be able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders (primarily in business units & other second line functions; i.e Risk & Controls, Internal audit to balance competing priorities, and to strive for the continuous improvement and driving beneficial business outcomes.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Risk Management Experience: 3-5 years of experience in risk management, preferably within a regulatory environment or professional services firm specializing in audit, assurance, consulting, financial advisory, or risk management services. Previous experience working in a Big4 firm is strongly preferred. They will participate in the ongoing implementation and execution of Booking.com’s regulatory compliance program, including conducting and leading risk assessments driven by regulatory requirements.
- Compliance and Controls: Strong background in compliance risk management, business and IT control frameworks, and controls governance. They will assist in implementing remedial processes and control implementations following internal and external audits/testing.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent skills in managing relationships with risk/function owners and auditors, and the ability to balance competing priorities. They will provide guidance and expertise to key control owners across various business teams and contribute to the management of external and internal audit requirements. They will work with stakeholders to design, implement, monitor, and assure business and IT control frameworks addressing regulatory requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Proficiency in developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation, including flow charts, process narratives, and risk and control matrices.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong writing skills and ability to decipher complex compliance and business problems;
- Background in compliance internal risk management and/or internal/external audit, control frameworks, controls governance, risk assessments preferably around large regulatory compliance frameworks;
- Strong stakeholder management skills (risk/function owners, auditors);
- Ability to multitask and successfully manage multiple priorities and projects;.
- Strong work ethic, enthusiastic, self-starting, adaptable and enjoys change;
- Independent and autonomous, while still being able to be a strong team player;
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken;
