Role description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Privacy Intern to support our Privacy team in maintaining and updating the organization's data processing inventories, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations like GDPR. This role will involve accurately documenting data flows, identifying potential privacy risks, and assisting in managing Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) and associated data flow maps. Additionally, the intern will handle Data Subject Rights requests, including access, correction, deletion, and other rights outlined under GDPR.
This position is designed to help the organization manage data responsibly, mitigate legal risks, and ensure that personal data is processed transparently and securely across departments. The intern will play a crucial role in maintaining privacy standards, protecting personal data (including sensitive information), and enhancing operational efficiency by reducing the workload on current staff. This is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data protection while contributing to the organization's compliance efforts. No prior experience is required—just a strong interest in privacy and a willingness to learn.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Assisting the team with recording meeting minutes and documentation.
- Supporting assignments related to the maintenance of Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) and associated data flow maps.
- Assisting with Data Subject Rights Requests and managing standardized privacy cases.
- Utilizing a combination of manual and automated tools to analyze data and communicate privacy trends.
- Collaborating effectively with team members and leadership to share ideas and knowledge.
- Creating privacy awareness while maintaining a strong focus on providing a positive customer experience.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
- Fluency in English (mandatory).
- Availability for a 6-hour/day internship for 6 months (mandatory).
- Strong interest in privacy, data protection and regulatory compliance.
- Willingness to learn about global privacy laws, such as GDPR, CCPA.
- Ability to investigate, retrieve and analyze data.
- Good decision making ability and detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload efficiently.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate across departments.
- Basic familiarity with office productivity tools (Microsoft Office / Google Suite).
