Role Description:

In this role, you will be joining our Developer Success Team within Engineering Excellence & Productivity (EXP) as a DevOps Solutions Engineer. This team serves as a front door to the Engineering Excellence & Productivity (EXP) engineering, operations, and compliance teams with the key focus of enabling our Central DevOps teams to bring new software or new features to production as quickly as possible.
- Ensuring all central requirements and changes are supported via aligned EXP squads. Using our EXP squads, the team will either explicitly implement the technical change required or lead coordinated efforts where there are multiple dependencies.
- Ensuring tooling standards are being followed as well as automation of operational tasks.
- Supporting Compliance, Security Controls and Risk Management.
- Ensuring an acceptable level of IT operations performance and error risk in line with service level agreements (SLAs)
- Continuously review operating metrics and data to find opportunities to improve.
Tech Profile/Essential Skills:
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in similar roles, with deep knowledge of GitLab features and capabilities.
- Strong understanding of version control systems, branching strategies, and Git workflows.
- Strong experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines within GitLab.
- Direct proficiency in integrating GitLab with other DevOps tools (ex. Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, etc.).
- Security Best Practices: Practical knowledge of implementing security best practices in CI/CD pipelines, including automated vulnerability scanning, code quality checks, and compliance measures.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to GitLab operations, including build and deployment failures.
- Experience in mentoring teams in all aspects of GitLab architecture, operations, and methodologies to ensure adherence to best practices.
- Excellent communications skills, with ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell, as well as YAML configuration for pipeline customization and automation.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools for managing application deployment in Cloud environments.
- Strong background in DevSecOps and continuous compliance strategies integrated into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to communicate complex DevOps concepts and GitLab features to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with all levels of staff, both orally and written.
- Ability to manage own work and multitask to meet tight deadlines without losing sight of priorities under minimum supervision.
- Highly motivated, self-directed individual with a positive & pro-active attitude to work.
- Customer and service focused, with determination to meet their needs and expectations.

Education and Professional Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Continuous learning approach with a commitment to staying up to date on the latest GitLab features, DevOps tools, and best practices.
- A collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Commitment to DevOps/DevSecOps culture.
- Familiarity with Agile principles including any hand on experience.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Design and implement GitLab strategies that align with organisational needs.
- Design and configure GitLab pipelines and workflows to optimise development lifecycle (SDLC+).
- Lead the integration of GitLab with other development, testing, deployment, and PMO tools.
- Train and mentor teams on GitLab standard methodologies and tool usage to ensure effective adoption.
- Monitor and analyse GitLab usage and performance, proactively identifying potential issues and recommending solutions.
- Provide troubleshooting support for GitLab issues.
- Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth delivery of software projects.
- Stay up to date on GitLab product updates and features, advising organization on potential benefits and issues with new capabilities.
- Ensure that GitLab-related processes adhere to the organization’s security and compliance requirements.
- Document and knowledge sharing materials to assist with onboarding new team members and maintaining high standards across the organization.
- Oversees the design work and planning for user journeys ensuring the achieve the desired objectives.
- Supports the creation of solutions for Epics and the associated implementation tasks.
- Develops understanding of LSEG's commercial direction and how technology and knowledge management is forming a part of this.
- Completes the delivery of given tasks with limited guidance and oversight.
- Builds strong relationships with senior internal partners, growing network and collaborating with own team and colleagues in other domains. Communicates complex information clearly to relevant audiences.
- Takes initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications, and projects.
- Must interact with global teams in time zones spanning UK, US, APAC areas.
- Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, through to deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Participate in Project related activities to meet operational needs.
- To provide the highest level of customer service, whilst working under pressure.
- To follow and adhere to established Incident Management, Change Management and Problem Management procedures.
