British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Controls Analyst in Bucharest until August 30th 2025
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Run and complete BAT’s SOx programme, including planning, risk assessment, and testing, ensuring alignment with BCT methodology, SEC, PCAOB, and best practices in internal controls.
- Lead the execution of Management SOx testing across key business processes, functions and geographies.
- Project managing a team of colleagues from the Business Controls Team and BAT’s co-source Partner of 2-15 at any time (local and / or across multiple geographies) – including activity assignment, delegation, on the job guidance, monitoring and review.
- Project managing BAT’s co-source partner – including monitoring of actual work vs. budget and performing quality assurance reviews.
- Collaborate with BAT management to address control issues, crafting practical solutions to remediate deficiencies.
- Prepare clear and relevant reports on status, results, and key findings for BAT Management, Governance forums, and audit committees.
- Maintain ongoing communication with external auditors, coordinating on audit planning, testing, and deficiency evaluations.
- Run internal controls monitoring and assurance across ICFR and other risk domains, including self-assessments and incident reporting.
- Provide controls training, develop standardized templates and guidance, and embed these processes across the business.
- Line management responsibility for Business Controls Analysts on BAU work and Project Team management responsibility for individual assignments, including:
- setting clear, measurable objectives
- effective delegation
- providing on the job coaching and guidance
- timely, clear and balanced feedback on their performance and development needs.
What are we looking for?
- Degree educated with relevant professional qualification (as a minimum in progress) e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA and 3+ years PQE,
- 4-5+ years transactional finance, accounting / financial reporting and / or risk and controls experience in a professional services firm environment (e.g. Big Four audit / advisory) and /or a global multinational (ideally FMCG).
- Experience of internal controls in a SOx environment – either via professional services (external audit, advisory) or working with the controls team at an SEC registrant.
- Experience engaging with external auditors is a plus.
- Good knowledge of US and UK internal control requirements for a global Group, including SEC SOx requirements and best practices.
- Awareness of current and evolving controls regulations, accounting principles and industry standards – with emphasis with UK and US regulations (e.g. UK Corporate Governance Code, ESG, Cybersecurity)
- Experience in reviewing core business and finance processes and assessing the adequacy of controls, including design and operating efficiency.
- Experience in leading teams and people development.
