For our business partner, one of the largest integrators of IT and physical security solutions for national and European critical infrastructure, we are looking for a Senior Data Modeler who will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and optimizing data models for our Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing (DW) solutions.
The ideal person should have a solid knowledge of OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) along with advanced data modeling expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for OLTP and Data Warehousing (DW) applications.
- Implementing robust data modeling solutions to support Business Intelligence and reporting initiatives.
- Working with business teams and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate those needs into effective data models.
- Development and optimization of database structures to support OLTP and OLAP processes.
- Create and manage technical documentation for data models and define data modeling standards.
- Collaborating with ETL and data engineering teams to implement and optimize data loading and processing processes.
- Monitoring data performance and integrity, ensuring scalability and reliability of data models.
- Validate and verify data models against business requirements to ensure compliance and optimization of reporting processes.
- Ensuring data integrity, security, and confidentiality at all levels of the data architecture.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
- Minimum 5+ years of BI/DW, OLTP, and data modeling experience
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL and BI architectures, concepts and frameworks
- Deep knowledge of the Kimball and Inmon approaches and the basic differences
- Experience in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Able to facilitate data discovery sessions involving subject matter experts
- Experience translating/mapping relational data models to Database Schemas
- Experience with modeling tools (such as ERWin and ER/Studio)
- Knowledge of RDBMS platforms (eg Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) with experience generating DDL)
- Ability to create and maintain conceptual/business, logical, and physical data models
- Ability to translate a logical model into a physical model by adding appropriate physical objects needed to create the database, e.g. Indicators
- Experience maintaining a model repository
- Ability to synchronize models to ensure database structures match models
