For over 300 years, the Exchange has produced detailed market information for companies and investors. Technological innovations have transformed this service from a twice-weekly paper publication for the London business community to a continuous flow of electronic information to all the financial markets across the globe. This is the Regulatory News Service (RNS).
This team is responsible for providing the RNS suite of products.
Key responsibilities for this role are:
Act as a lead contributor for technical solutions within an agile team
Employ a range of techniques to analyze requirements and issues and evaluate multiple solutions against engineering, business & strategic criteria
Identify and resolve barriers to business deliveries implementing solutions which iteratively add value
Design solutions using common design patterns with a range of design tools & techniques
Conduct peer reviews to ensure designs are fit for purpose, extensible and re-usable
Design and build solutions which are secure and controlled
Complete the design of applications and performing code analysis and overall improvement of style and usability
Identify and execute improvements to code
Develop a deep understanding of our users, their needs, behaviors, nice-to-haves, and bring that insight into the heart of all aspects of project work
Communicate effectively with project stakeholder to report on progress against agreed deliverables and escalate any critical issues/blockers
Currently the whole team works partly remotely. As a result, the role holder must currently have access to a suitable location with good internet access to perform this role when not in an office environment.
The team will be present in the office for a minimum of 1 day per week, and all candidates must therefore be within a reasonable commuting distance.
During the ramp-up period, presence in the office may be required with slightly greater frequency
Objectives
Delivery of front-end and back-end solutions in accordance with PO and Tech Lead priorities
Designing and delivering solutions in accordance with team and organisational standards
Collaborating with peers for code reviews, QA and progression through the SDLC
Supporting diagnosis and resolution of production issues as needed
Identifying and overcoming/working around obstacles, challenges and impediments to progress
Contributing to the development of team standards and service improvements
Scope
Participation in Sprint events – estimations, scrums, retrospectives, etc. in accordance with team standards
Full lifecycle development (Agile)– from requirements analysis, estimation, design, coding, unit testing, documenting, peer reviews, and QA validation
Full lifecycle workflow – using Jira, Gitlab/Bitbucket, Jenkins, etc in accordance with team standards
Code management – branching, commits, merges in accordance with team standards
Set up and management of personal development environment (AWS Workspace)
Managing service improvement activities alongside development and support activities
Coordination with a cross section of technology and business stakeholders as needed
Other ad hoc duties that may be required to support the team mission and goals from time to time
Note: release and change management events will often be scheduled outside of normal UK/RO working hours. The FS Devs operate to support these events from time to time.

Required Knowledge & Skills
Mandatory
Business level proficiency in the English language – written and verbal
Detailed knowledge of and experience with software development principles
Experience with c#, .Net / .Net Core.
Extensive experience and understanding of OO, MVC, REST and Web API.
Extensive experience and understanding of HTML, JS, Typescript, Angular v8+.
Good knowledge of SQL Server or other equivalent SQL skills (PostgreSQL knowledge is advantageous)
Expert practitioner of agile methodologies, and clean code programming.
A good working knowledge of git (via Gitlab and/or Bitbucket), source code control and branching/merging practices
Optional, but preferred
Knowledge and experience designing and coding with AWS Lambda
Knowledge and experience designing and coding with AWS API Gateway
Knowledge of CI/CD practices
Experience working with Jira, Jenkins & Nexus.
Prior experience of working in large corporate enterprises
Experience with IIS
Experience and understanding of Unit testing framework.
Experience and understanding of JS libraries, AWS.
A good working knowledge of other AWS cloud services (DynamoDB, Redis, CloudFront, etc.
Practitioner of test-driven development.
Experience with Docker and, or other Container tooling (Kubernetes, Anthos, AWS ECTS)
